PROJECTS
Here are a few of the projects I've been working on recently. You can also check out my instagram page for updates on some ongoing projects and to see what I've been working on in my own garden.

Barn Conversion on The Wirral
The brief for this project was to transform a large empty lawn into a series of different areas with different functions and styles.
There is an area for growing fruit and vegetables, two large herbaceous borders, a gravel garden and a water feature. It looks especially beautiful when the wild flower meadow is in full bloom!

Prairie Planting Scheme in Cheshire
For this project I was asked to design a planting scheme for two large borders on either side of the garden and also for a children's play area at the bottom of the garden. For the borders I designed a prairie style planting scheme using grasses and perennials (The client loved naturalistic planting schemes as much as I do).
For the children's area I chose plants with impressive foliage for a fun jungle hideaway feel.

Woodley School & College
Woodley is a brilliant special school for students with Autism in Huddersfield.
I was so excited when they asked me to design their allotment for them. I focused on incorporating touch, smell and sound to create a calming environment for the students. The final result is more than just a traditional allotment; it includes a mini orchard, sensory beds, wildlife zones and an all important quiet area.
Work is currently underway so watch this space for updates.

Family garden in North Wales
This garden is beautifully situated with superb views over the countryside on one side but with the challenge of being overlooked by neighbouring houses from two other sides.

The solution was to carefully position trees to provide privacy whilst orientating the seating and dining areas to maximise the view.

Courtyard and gravel garden in Cheshire
This was an exiting project with two very different areas and growing conditions adjacent to one another. A shady courtyard, next to a sunny, but overgrown patio area. The challenge was creating a cohesive space that flowed from one area to the next whilst ensuring that the planting would thrive in each area. The solution was to replace the old patio area with a gravel garden and revitalise the courtyard with vibrant, shade loving planting. This garden is currently under construction.

Woodland garden in Chester (Ongoing)
I am currently working on a domestic garden in a beautiful woodland setting. Watch this space to see how I approach the challenge of a largely, dry, shady garden to transform it into a lush, verdant and useable space.
It's going to be special when it's finished!
